Dear greenuglyogre,

The best I was able to find so far is a Marine Corps emblem molded in
plastic, 7" in diameter, as shown on this picture:

Would that be what you have in mind or do you prefer something else?

No. Plastic will not last. I will be mounting this on a Harley. It
will need to be chrome or stainless steel.

One other thing I should have made clear. I just want the eagle globe
and anchor. Not the background.

Dear greenuglyogre,

Would this meet your needs? Polished solid brass, therefore no danger
of rusting or the like. Size: 5 x 5 inches. It is not chrome or steel,
alas.

My client wants only chrome or stainless steel. Stainless steel is a
distant second choice. We have put over 40K into this bike so he is
firm on what he wants.

Thanks for your excellence of character.

As noted by tchaney, the gentleman is John Arellano,
a sargeant in the Corps who, himself, "spent years
looking for a product to display on my car which
would reflect the pride I have. I was dissapointed
to find only cheap crappy plastic things made in
China. 'NOT ON MY CAR!'"
http://hometown.aol.com/ja6701/MarineCorps.html

His phone number and email are on the page, so
I won't repeat them here. I hope that a glance at
the quality of the work displayed on his page
will cause you to feel as much excitement as I did.

I sent him an email, stating:

"Regarding the items on your page,
I have a client interested in a stainless-steel or chrome
version with "gold inlay where it belongs" for mounting
on a $40,000 Harley Davidson. The dimensions of the
ones you offer are about right, and all he needs is the
design you have, without a backing plate or hitch
 slider..."

Based on your further clarifications, I sent another:

"I forgot to mention that stainless steel is a "distant
second choice". Chrome is highly preferred."

I just heard back from him, and he said in an email:

"thank you for your inquiry. yes, i do believe i can
make an emblem as you requested. i would need to
 speak directly to the client."

regards
john arellano

I have sent an email to a very promising resource.
When I didn't hear from him within an hour, I left
a message on his answering machine, as well. The
resource I am investigating produces hand-tooled
emblems of the nature you desire. He usually makes
them in brass, but since he is an artisan, I'm
fairly confident that he can make one in chrome,
with gold inlay (or overlay) "where it belongs".
I will post his answer as soon as it is received.

sublime1 I think you are looking at the same person I saw on this.
Even if he only makes them in brass it should be easy enough to have
the emblem chrome plated and it also looks like it is almost the exact
size being looked for.

LOL tchaney...
Yes, you are correct - but as an official researcher,
I'd planned on including that link AS an answer, rather
than before the answer.
