Ah, brudenell-ga, my friend. We meet again…

Thank you for allowing me yet another opportunity to answer one of
your questions.

Here are the lyrics to the song “Does Santa Claus Sleep With His
Whiskers Over Or Under The Sheets?”, by Henry Hall. I had a friend in
Liverpool send me the lyrics as they are fraught with heavily accented
cockney which I had difficulty understanding well enough to transcribe
them accurately. I actually have this MP3 but in keeping with Google
Answers policy, which prohibits researchers from direct contact with
customers (not to mention copyright issues) I have no way of providing
it to you.

I hope you enjoy this funny, interactive song:

“Does Santa Claus Sleep With His Whiskers Over Or Under The Sheets?”
by Henry Hall

(begins with snoring sounds)

Over? Under?
Over? Under?

Now here is a problem that puzzles my brain
At Christmas time it nearly drives me insane
I’ve asked all the policemen and postmen as well
But none of them seem to be able to tell
Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?

Does he go to bed with them tucked in his vest
And when he sleeps do they tickle his chest?
Our lawyers and doctors and statesmen
Say this question’s got them all beat
Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?

Now I can’t swim a stroke said a sailor one night
As he fell in the ocean and vanished from sight
His mate said I can’t swim at all that’s no a crime
But tell me before you go down the third time
(Now you sing) Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?
Does he go to bed with them tucked in his vest
And when he sleeps do they tickle his chest?
We know that the nice girls love a sailor
And some of them love all the fleet
(Now you sing) Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?

A mother is starving her baby is ill
The husband there waits till he’s drinkin’ his fill
On her knees now she bleeds as he’s drinking his stout
If you can’t find his bread then you’d better find out
Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheets?
Does he go to bed with them tucked in his vest
And when he sleeps do they tickle his chest?
I know a fat lad in Wiggin
Whose bedclothes don’t cover his feet
But does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?

We three little piggies have been taught to say
That we’re not afraid of the wolf anyway
And though we’ll be taken severely to task
This is the question we simply must ask
(The piggies sing La, la, la while you sing) Does Santa Claus sleep
with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?
Does he go to bed with them tucked in his vest
And when he sleeps do they tickle his chest?
We know that the poor sausage makers
Have hard wood to make both ends meet
(Now you sing) Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers
Over or under the sheet?

(spoken)
Ah, here is Santa, and in a few seconds we’ll tell you definitely
whether Santa Clause sleeps with his whiskers over or under the
sheets. Just one moment please.

(Man yelling in background as song ends)
Hey Santa! Santa!
Santa? (voice drifts off)

Hello tutuzdad-ga

Good to see you again! I very much appreciate the song's lyrics! I can
just imagine the job of doing the transcription? It must have been a
task! Now, there must be something in the realm of possibilities,
without direct contact of course, to hear the tune on MP3? Thanks
again for your assistance. Brudenell

Hi Brudenell,

Here’s a wav file about someone asking about Santa’s whiskers.
The Daily Wav Website
http://www.dailywav.com/1200/outsideorin.wav

"All my life I've wondered something and now's my chance to find out.
I'm going to find the answer to a question that's puzzled the world
for centuries. Does Santa Claus sleep with his whiskers outside or in?
–Always sleep with them out. Cold air makes them grow." – [John Payne
and Edmund Gwenn]
http://www.dailywav.com/ma.html

That’s all I was able to find.
