mornin' kids, a couple days ago granny awoke to find that CDNow had merged with Amazon. this has granny's bowels in an uproar as she used to be able to hear snippets from the whole CD before buying. yes, some dinosaurs still do that! as I'm sure ya'll know, Amazon only gives a first-4 listening track when we all know the good stuff is at the end. could you please find me a 1 or 2 links where you can listen to most of or an entire CD? hopefully, someone knows this off the top of their pointy head without too much searching. very much obliged with gravy on top, GB |

Hello Granny Bing, I find that one of the best sites for full-CD snippets is Tower Records. [ http://www.towerrecords.com ]. They seem to have clips from all the tracks not only on popular discs like Van Morrison's "Moondance" [ http://www.towerrecords.com/product.asp?pfid=1099181&cc=USD ] but also on obscure little albums like the soundtrack to David Lynch's "The Straight Story" [ http://www.towerrecords.com/product.asp?pfid=1701544&cc=USD ]. Another option would be CD Universe [ http://www.cduniverse.com ]. Here, if Granny is in a yuletide mood, she might listen to snippets from popular discs like Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" [ http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?style=MUSIC&pid=1034807 ]. Or if she finds herself in more of '70s mode, she could check out all 21 tracks of The Carpenters' "Christmas Portrait" [ http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?style=MUSIC&pid=1094603 ]. search strategy: knew the sites already I hope this helps. | |

dearest jugglerman, shoot, and I knew those, too! ya know how you get accustomed to going to one place, and you've got an account there and know where everything is? ya got yer snacks all laid out and sittin' in your easy chair and then somebody comes by and tells you ya gotta move, like you've been a freeloadin' perv or somethin'. granny gets all disoriented when that happens. it's like movin' furniture on a blind person. picture granny doin' a Curly from the Stooges 360-pivot circle. you have two good recommends here and I've been settlin' in over there. think CDUniverse works better. less cluttered. have you ordered from either place? so you know I'm a Van Morrison fan, eh? what, ya been peekin' in granny's file again, haven't ya? I love your playing tuneTiVo with me and I've put that "Straight Story" soundtrack on my Christmas list. here are my recommends for you then. http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1241761&cart=131922264&style=music Burning Ground (go ahead, crank it. you know ya wanna) granny likes a little more oomph in her Christmas music, so she chose these for you: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?PID=1116266&style=music&frm=lk_epin He Will Come http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1877674&cart=131922264&style=music Get Right with God http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1096922&cart=131922264&style=music Champagne and Wine Nobody's Fault but Mine (okay, so they're not very Christmas-y. I can't help pluggin' Otis everywhere I go) and, of course, what would Christmas be without Bob and the infidels? http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1086085&cart=131927784&style=music Jokerman and here's a soundtrack iffin you're a pagan http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1044270&cart=131922264&style=music Pagan Song also if you need to do any 360 arm chair traveling: http://www.travelape.com/tape/360.html dearest pgurudiddydarlin', heck, granny'd be around a whole lot more often if she could ask her entertainin' questions for free. ya think they'd let her? petition your GA congressperson immediately! granny's runnin' outta cash, but never, ever, outta questions. you have a nice holiday, too, child and peace to the family -- GA and otherwise. holiday cheers, GB |
