What powers directNIC's SiteCreator program?
http://sitecreator.directnic.com/
http://www.directnic.com/features/sitecreator.php
Test their demo. I want to buy that program/script/service, who makes
it and how do I buy it so I can put it on my website and offer that
service to my customers. I know it's a private-label program that
they purchased from a third-party. I want to know which third party
it is :-)
Thanks.

Hello xemion,
I started to research this, but am curious how you know that it was a
third party who sold them this solution? I will see what I can come up
with.

For starters, I think I've already seen the third party's website and
tested it because directNIC's looks really familiar. But I've seen a
gazillion such sites in the last week and I can't remember which one
it is.
Secondly, I know such companies and how they do business. There are a
number of third-parties out there that provide such services. I don't
believe this site was developed in-house by directNIC. It would be
way too expensive and time consuming. It's much simpler to just use a
third party's software. Makes business sense.

I have found the maker, however, it appears that they are no longer
supporting the product. Would a list of similar products suffice?

If it's the maker, that's what I want. If you wish to include a list
of similar products that's fine and may earn you a bonus tip, but it's
not what will satisfy the answer. I'll deal with them not supporting
the product myself, you've done your job.

Actually, the issue is the website of the creator of the script no
longer exists. I can get you links to download the script, from
various sites, but the actual website of the author of the script is
not available.

But you're positive this is the correct site/company?? May I ask how
you know this is the company...? Is the site in archive.org or the
Google cache?

Actually, I apologize. In researching further, it turns out this was
the wrong company. However, I have found the author/company of the
script they are using. I am currently running the demo on both
directnic and this company to verify and will then post the answer.

Sounds good. Thanks!

Xemion,
Thank you for your question. The program being used by directNIC is
OnlineSiteCreator by akmin technologies who's homepage can be found at
http://www.akmin.com/. Unfortunately, they do not provide pricing and
you will need to send an email to info@onlinesitecreator.net for
information on purchasing the application. You can see another site
using the script at http://www.buildyoursiteonline.com/. The URL for
the actual product can be found at
http://www.onlinesitecreator.net/index.cfm.
Being that they don't provide pricing nor did you specify a budget, I
wanted to provide you with similar products. While they may not be as
feature rich as simple to use, they will allow you to provide your
customers with the ability to create website on your server. These
are based upon various technologies including PHP, Perl and ASP:
Flash-SiteBuilder v2.0
http://www.webdesignhq.com/
Amazing Flash based system. Obviously due the bandwidth required for
Flash heavy applications, may not be the best option if you plan on
having alot of dial-up customers.
Jade
http://rod.info/jade/
No frills, very straight forward.
CommunityWeaver
http://buildacommunity.com/communityweaver/
Suite of products to provide virtual communities
WebUMakeWeb
http://www.webumake.com/wweb/index.htm
Very nice WYSIWYG interface
HomeFree
http://hf-online.com/
Perl based system with some nice security features.
FingerTips
http://www.loudasp.com/fingertips/index.asp
ASP solution
Thank you again for your question and I hope the information I have
provided is helpful. If you need any additional clarification, please
let me know. You can find more website building scripts at the sites
listed below.
Regards,

one additional question, tar heel, how did you discover this was the
company that created onlineNIC's site? Did you just look and look
until you found a demo that was the same or.....? I want to know your
research secrets ;-)

Ahhh..I apologize for not providing my search strategy. Actually,
what I did was do a search on Google on the term "sitecreator.php" and
"sitecreator" to find other sites that may have been using the
product. I found http://www.onednr.com/sitecreator.php and looked at
it. Then, under the search for sitecreator, I found the wrong one as
there was a product out there that did something similar called
sitecreator. When I didn't find the script, I went to a few script
repository sites that I know of, including HotScripts.com and did a
search there and, voila, found it at
http://www.hotscripts.com/search/?query=sitecreator&category=all&bool=AND
I then played with the demo over there and the one at directNIC and
saw that it was the same.
Thanks for the rating and I am glad I was able to help!
