Where, specifically, on the river Nile was baby Moses found according
to any major biblical commentator or theorist. (Exodus 2:5)

I have not found the place according to a major biblical commentator
or theorist. But there is a place according to a long-standing
tradition in Egypt. Would this be a sufficient answer?

No but that would be helpful anyway. I'll post that question for you.

I have found the opinion of a major biblical commentator, however,
it's not something that can be "proven" beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Would that be sufficient?

Hi solar12123,

I believe I've located the information you are seeking. I've found two
different, respected Biblical commentators with different ideas of
where baby Moses' basket was found.

According to John Gill (The New John Gill Exposition of the Entire
Bible)
http://www.searchgodsword.org/com/geb/view.cgi?book=ex&chapter=002&verse=005
,

"...she [Pharoah's daughter] came down from the palace of her father,
the gardens of which might lead to the Nile; for Zoan or Tanis, near
to which, the Arabiac writers say, as before observed, the ark was
laid, was situated on the banks of the river Nile, and was the royal
seat of the kings of Egypt; though perhaps the royal seat at this time
was either Heliopolis, as Apion testifies, that it was a tradition of
the Egyptians that Moses was an Heliopolitan, or else Memphis, which
was not far from it; for Artapanus, another Heathen writer, says, that
when he fled, after he had killed the Egyptian, from Memphis, he
passed over the Nile to go into Arabia..."

According to my source, John Gill is not widely known, however, his
work contains information found nowhere else, but in ancient Jewish
writings.

The second commentary I found (Commentary Critical and Explanatory on
the Whole Bible, by
Robert Jamieson, A. R. Fausset and David Brown, 1871), the traditional
resting place of Moses' basket was the Isle of Rodah, near Old Cairo.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please ask for
clarification before rating this answer.

Thanks,

John Gill "...preached in the same church as C. H. Spurgeon over one
hundred years earlier..."

A very completed and detailed biography of John Gill's life can be

I found something about Moses that seems to be fairly speculative.
