In response to earlier answer related to testing for gold 121700. would a metal object that bubbles when solution is placed on it and later turns bluey green in colour sugeest that it might be gold and copper ? |

FYI, I answered question #121700. According to the activity series, copper does not react with acids readily. In reality, if copper is exposed to a very strong acid (concentrated nitric acid, for example), it will react. I do not know what colour it will turn, though. Do know that concentrated nitric acid is very dangerous and difficult to find unless from special chemistry shops or industrial plants. |
