Jsb --

You're lucky because the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC)
database is flexible and easy to use, which will allow you to generate
a list easily for Kentucky and Indiana.

Simply entering Indiana or Kentucky in the state field on the FDIC
search page will find all of the banks in each state. The lists
include each bank's size and finds 253 banks in Kentucky; 213 in
Indiana:
FDIC
"Institution List"
http://www3.fdic.gov/idasp/main.asp

The FDIC also has an index of institutions with trust powers, listing
dollars held in trust and other key information about the bank. Again
you'll want to do your search by state (though you can do it by city,
zip code and institution name too). Indiana has 158 trust
institutions; Kentucky 101.
FDIC
"Trust Institution Search"
http://www2.fdic.gov/structur/trust/search.cfm

Some of the institutions with trust authority may still be of interest
to you, as some have no assets in trust.

Google search strategy:
FDIC + banks + trusts
