Dear bigjosh, I have done extensive research and found out that the Husqvarna Solar Mower is actually already available on some European markets: In Norway, Germany, Sweden, and Belgium the mower is offered by various gardening equipment dealers. I did not find shops in other countries of the world carrying it. However, my research led also to the result that of those dealers, only two would ship to the USA, both of them located in Germany. Contacting them in English will, according to my experiences with German shops, not a problem at all. Ordering from Europe is, alas, not very convenient, and there will also be notable shipping costs. But it offers you, at least, two oppotunities to order and get the mower now, before its introduction in the US market. -- Motorland.net HBO Einkauf & Marketing GmbH & Co. Dietrichsweg 27 26127 Oldenburg Germany Phone: +49(0)441-961820 Fax: +49(0)441-9618255 E-Mail: Info@MotorLand.Net Website (general): http://www.motorland.net/ Website (direct product link): http://www.motorland.net/cgi-bin/MotorLand.storefront/DE/product/4986 This major German gardening equipment chain offers the Husqvarna Solar Mower in its online shop for 2579.00 Euros, which equals approximately $2550.00 excl. shipping. They do, according to their terms of service, ship to countries outside of Europe. You would have to send them an e-mail expressing what you wish to order and where it should be delivered, and they will give you individual payment and shipping options. -- Umwelt-, Forst- und Gartentechnik Ebert Angerstrasse 32 08304 Schönheide Germany Phone: +49(0)37755-2154 Fax: +49(0)37755-55360 E-Mail: ebert-schoenheide@t-online.de Website (general): http://www.ebert-schoenheide.de/ Website (direct product link): http://www.ebert-schoenheide.de/solarmaeher2.htm This German gardening technology dealer offers the Husqvarna Solar Mower for 2555.95 Euros, which equals approximately $2500.00. The company's terms of service say explicitly that they deliver to foreign countries; of course, there will be shipping costs. -- Search terms used: Husqvarna "solar mower": ://www.google.de/search?q=Husqvarna+%22solar+mower%22&hl=de&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&newwindow=1&start=0&sa=N Hope this helps! Perfect! Exactly the info I was looking for! I just tried ordering from Umwelt-, Forst- und Gartentechnik Ebert. If that doesn't work out, I'll try Motorland (or "Engine Land" as Google translates it). I'll post back with the ultimate outcome. |

Hi Josh, What a fascinating looking product! I called my local dealer who was a bit in the dark but gave me the number at Husqvarna USA. They say it is in testing in Europe, but not yet on the market. Once on the market there (voltages and connectors likely different than US) it will be released for testing here, first in California. They will undergo 6-12 months of a test cycle, then be available for general sale. Two people I spoke two had two different ideas of pricing. One thought $2,000, the other closer to $3,000. Wish I had better news for you. Regards, -=clouseau=- Google Answers Researcher |

After about a month, I got a call from the import broker that my mover had actually arived in the US! I had to sign some paper work, and pay a $75 brokerae fee, but I did, in fact, end up getting the mower a few weekes later. Now I just have to wait until spring to see if it works. :) Thanks again for the info, scriptor-ga. |

Spring is here, so i finally was able to get the solar mower working and it is *great*. I set up the perimiter as a giant square in the middle of my yard and let to mower do its thing. The square is *prefectly* trimmed and feels like a giant carpet. The only downside with the mower is that it can not climb hills steeper than about 20o, so I can't set it up to do my whole yard - but for flat areas it is a great invention. I wish they would sell it properly in the US. |
