Hello u212s793er,

Thank you for your question.

I was able to locate a directory of companies involved in networking
in the San Francisco Bay Area at
http://www.convergedigest.com/GeographicDirectory/SFBayAreaABC.asp -
The Converge Network Digest.

Here you will find companies that deal with all aspects of networking
hardware and software including cellular and mobile as well as
hardwired technologies. I have selected a list of the most appropriate
to answer your question and if in doubt, have included a link that
might be appropriate for you in an effort to develop the most complete
list I can for you.

Converge Network describes itself as:

"Converge! Network Digest covers the convergence of broadband
telecommunications networking through daily and weekly e-mail
newsletters and our Web site.

Unlike other news outlets that focus exclusively on optical, wireless
or investment stories, Converge! Network Digest offers a broad
perspective covering the full spectrum and the full protocol stack of
network-based services and systems. We believe innovations in
silicon, optics and software will continue to be the enablers of the
next wave of telecommunications. And we understand that technical
marvels will only be useful if they can be deployed into existing
infrastructures. By looking at the network holistically, we help our
readers see the big picture. We feel that advances in silicon or
optical technology intrinsically are linked to trends in streaming
media, the growth of DSL/cable subscribers and even planned feature
sets in the next Microsoft operating system.

We report the leading daily news stories throughout all aspects of
broadband networking worldwide."

Their alphabetical San Francisco Bay Area listing includes hundreds of
companies, and some that do not specifically list "cellular" or
"mobile" may be of interest to you. I urge you to investigate their
pages.

Dear Clouseau,
Thanks for the info.
What I really wanted was consumer-use cell phone software, for
consumer solutions, designed with the consumer in mind, not mobile
"networking" software. A good example would be, the address book
feature inside a cell phone.
Sincerely,
u212s793er

Hello again u212s793er,

My apologies for interpreting your question more broadly and not with
more focus toward mobile or cellular applications. Had I known a bit
more about your need - such as perhaps you were looking to hire an
independent developer or perhaps you were looking to send resumes to
these companies seeking employment - I could have targeted the search
a little more specifically for you.

Searching a little further for - mobile applications programmer OR
developer +california, I found several other resources for you:

http://www.mobilecoders.com/cobrand/pocketpcmag/result.asp?state=8

Pocket PC Custom Developers

Although this is Pocket PC based, many PPC apps are targeted to
telephony and there are dozens of independent programmers listed here
with their experience, skills and rates. A large percentage of these
are in Northern California.

You might also visit the Wireless Developer's Network at
http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/career/browse.phtml?type=3 where there
is a reasonable listing of consultants and their contact information
and web sites.

I hope these additional resources will be helpful for you.

And thank you kindly for the tip!

Best regards,
