Hi Steve
You can place an ad in the following newsgroups, for no charge:
uk.jobs.offered
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=uk.jobs.offered
An example of a recent posting for a web developer in this group can
be viewed here:
http://groups.google.com/groups?dq=&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=6070607f.0212100248.743bed50%40posting.google.com
misc.jobs.offered
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=misc.jobs.offered
biz.marketplace.web-design
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=biz.marketplace.web-design
Other possible places to advertise:
Techfreelance.net
www.techfreelance.net
Here you can post your ad for free. The home page says the only costs
you incur are what you pay for the freelancer. This might well be a
distance working option.
elance
www.elance.com
You post your project, describing exactly what your requirements are,
and service providers bid on the project. I'd imagine, for your needs,
that you'd be able to acquire somebody's services quite cheaply. You
need to put a deposit of $25 down though, refundable when the project
is awarded.
Again, unless you get lucky, this'll fall into the distance working
category.
You could always try advertising in one of the free classifieds on the
web, but you won't necessarily reach your target audience:
www.adpost.co.uk/
www.nettrader.co.uk
Advertising on college intranets sounds like a great idea. Here's a
selection, based in London:
University of Westminster
http://www.wmin.ac.uk/careers/vacancies/admin/employer_form.asp
Post your job here (free of charge), and they'll put it on the
University intranet for you.
City University London
http://www.soi.city.ac.uk/liaison/newppguidelines/employers.html
This page gives relevant contact details for job postings.
Middlesex University
http://www.mdx.ac.uk/placement/staff.htm#comp
Again, this gives relevant contact details.
If you wish to try other colleges/universities, go to their site and
search for 'placement' or 'work experience'. You should then find the
relevant form/contact details.
I hope this helps you find someone who can help you.
If you need clarification, don't hesitate!
Best wishes
sim-ga
