What were some of the unique characteristics of Hawaiin immigration to
the U.S. and how will the "island society" be different 10 years from
now?  What I am getting at is, how are Hawaiin immigration
characteristics differnet than other groups that come to U.S.?

Well, first of all, Hawaiians are Americans, so there is no
immigration as such. They are simply moving to a new state.
