Hi Bluestreak-ga, Harry Son was born in Rotterdam in 1880, p. 421. Due to problems with the Quartet (conflicting personalities and styles), he left the quartet. He went to Palestine first, but just before the war broke out, he and his wife returned to Rotterdam. I'm sorry to say that it looks very much like he and his wife were killed. "He and his wife were last seen being taken away by the Gestapo in 1940," p. 425 "Budapest Odyssey," by Tully Potter. The Strad, vol. 112: 1332 April 2001, pp 420-427. The Con Brio book I mentioned in the answer to the Pogany question confirms the story. "Con Brio: Four Russians Called the Budapest String Quartet," by Nat Brandt. New York: Oxford University Press, 1993. Search strategy: The Potter article found for some of the other Budapest String Quartet questions had mentioned Son so I went to that again. I had hoped to find more information in the Con Brio book, but merely found confirmation. Regards, luciaphile-ga |

I'm posting this as a comment because I only have a few of the things you asked for and because it doesn't look hopeful that I can find the rest--perhaps another researcher can complete this.
