Is there a site/url/source that will give the amount of per annum real
property taxes one would pay on owner occupied residences in a
representative number of different cities witin the usa and how can it
be searced?

Realtors.
Homefair "city reports" include real estate tax rates.  You will need
to register and answer several quesitons to access the data.

allows you to compare cities .. factors include annual property taxes.

CNN Money Citysearch Metro Guide will provide a statistical snapshot
