Imre Pogany was a Hungarian violinist. He was a member of the Budapest String Quartet from 1921-27. He was born July 14,1893 & died August,1975 in Miami,FL. I need his place of birth(presumably Hungary) and his date of death. Bluestreak |

Hi bluestreak-ga, Thanks for the question. Another one off your books! Imre Pogany was born in Budapest (p. 37) and died on August 25, 1975, (pp. 62-63). "Con Brio: Four Russians Called the Budapest String Quartet," by Nat Brandt. New York: Oxford University Press, 1993. Incidentally, if you haven't already done so, you might want to look into reading this book. Its focus is more on the Russian members, but it looks well researched, and if you're interested in the Budapest quartet, it might be a good source. Search strategy: Came across a reference to a book about the Budapest String quartet and found it in the library. I hope this answers your question, if you need more information, please ask for clarification and I'll do my best to assist you. Regards, luciaphile-ga |
