I have invested $200,000 in a foreign stock market portfolio and
$500,000 in a portfolio that tracks the S&P500 Index. Over the last
ten weeks, my foreign portfolio has had holding period return of 5%
whereas my US portfolio has had a return of 2%. My combined dollar
return on my total investment over this period has been:what?

Hello.

The combined dollar on return on your total investment is $20,000.

Return of foreign portfolio:
5% of $200,000 = $10,000

Return of S&P 500 (US) portfolio:
2% of $500,000 = $10,000

Combined return:
$10,000 + $10,000 = $20,000
