Can someone (who perhaps has the same drive?) verify that the laptop
ide hard drive in question is meant to make a "rattling" noise when
turned upside down. What is this down to? The drive seems to function
correctly but my old drive (different brand), never used to make that
noise and seemed to be built solidly. I just hope it's not damaged in
any way.

TIA

Wow! Didn't even know something like that existed - nice idea from IBM
though! The noise in question isn't actually there, and it basically
noticed it when I took the drive out (ie. it's not actually plugged in
and running, but just sitting there lifeless). The noise isn't
actually a "rattle", more of a "clunk" as though something was
shifting around inside the case (no noise when the drive is moved left
to right, only when it's flipped over)...

You may find it useful to listen to the sounds at the website below,
to compare with what you're hearing.

Hi,

I have a Travlestar that makes the exact noise you're describing. The
drive works great, but I'm sure if it's normal.

All the best,
James
