PLEASE HELP WITH THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE

The following error has occurred:
Java Corrupted or Misinstalled

Explanation:
This error occurs when your Java software has been either misinstalled
on your browser or if Java software has been corrupted in some way.
Some of the symptoms include a large number of "exception errors",
applets not showing up (or showing up as a blank or gray frame), and
other crash problems.

How to Fix the Problem:
The best way to solve the problem is to upgrade to a newer version of
the browser you use. This will come with the latest versions of the
Java software so you'll be able to run our Classic Games properly.
(You should uninstall your current version before you begin the
upgrade in order to start with a clean setup.) If you're already using
the latest version of your browser and are experiencing this problem,
it's still best if you uninstall your browser and then reinstall to
begin anew.

I am pulling my hair out. I am not particularly clued up on Macs. I
have recently bought an e-mac and have been using pogo.com games
playing backgammon on-line and trouble free for 3 months. The above
error message comes up as i try and jump into a game from the site.
.(as the page loads the msg ' start: applet not innitialised' appears
on the bottom bar menu. I don't think that upgrading my browser will
help, as the version i have is fairly new- 5.1. (and pogo states that
it opertes on antiquated software in comparison) As for unistalling my
browser and reinstalling it- I really don't fancy doing this, as the
repair application disk i got with the e-mac doesn't seem to give the
option of installing 1 application, - instead start up from scratch.
Am i missing something obvious, or should i bin my mac and get my pc
back if this is going to be a persistant problem

IE 5.1 is not the latest version for OS X. I suggest you upgrade to
5.2 for OS X, which you can get at:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/

Do you also have the latest update to OS X (10.1.5 or 10.2.2)?

GA-
Thanks for your prompt response... Re: URL.. As soon as I choose any
of the classic games from pogo.com, the problem occurs. (applets not
initialised)... I guess this is because all of their games (even
single player) have chat facilities using java.... As for updating my
explorer- I have checked the explorer website and OSX 10.1.5 is
required for explorer 5.2... I am not willing to update my version of
OSX as I am still paying for the computer and find it a bit harsh that
i have to fork out another $99 to get an update of software that seems
to have little more to offer...
Any further response is greatly appreciated.

The OS X 10.1 upgrade CD is available free. I am not sure if Apple
still gives it away anymore, but I know that some Mac retailers may
still have some copies on hand that they can give to you.
