Sometime in the late 1970's or early to mid 1980's my daughter got up
early every morning to watch a continuing adventure video with a
little girl named "Honey, Honey." I think it was made in Japan,
although I'm not sure. Can you locate a source that I could
find/purchase one of these videos?

Did the series have to do wih the adventures of Honey and her cat?

I am fairly confident I have found a source for one episode of the
series you are looking for. Will this suffice as an answer?

Yes, Honey-Honey had a little cat who went on her adventures with her.
It seems they either were running away from something or trying to
find something.

There is no answer at this time.

"Honey Honey and her Wonderful Adventures" is based on a
2-book cartoon series written/drawn by Ms. Eiko Mizuno.

ISBN : 4575723770
and
ISBN : 4575723789

You can see the covers of the two cartoon books here:
http://www.fukkan.com/vote.php3?no=2585
The covers are for the reissued editions published in March 2002
and may resemble the animated series more than the original.

(Although not the video, you can buy the books at
http://www.amazon.co.jp Japan's Amazon. Click on the In English
within the crimson banner and search by ISBN to get to the books.
Amazon will ship overseas)

The first editions were printed in
1968 December 17 for the 1st book
1968 December 23 for the 2nd book

They were printed almost back to back as they were a compilation
of the carious involving Honey-honey which were printed in a
monthly cartoon magazine called Ribbon in the 1960's.

Cover of the 1st book (first edition) here :
http://www3.plala.or.jp/comic/fream1/mizu-hani.htm
It appears the story starts off with Honey-honey's cat Mimi
swallowing a precious gem called the "Smile of the Amazon"
and ends up being chased all around the world by an assortment
of characters.

The official researcher, tarheel is definitely on the right track.

The animated series was shown [in Japan] from
October 17, 1981 to May 1, 1982 and spans 29 episodes.
Detailed episode analysis (unfortunately in Japanese) here:
http://www2.tba.t-com.ne.jp/syunsou/eps/honeyhoney/honey_eps.html

I could not find any references to videos being released
in Japanese.

There is a weblog (in Spanish) which has a screen capture
of the animated series and the cover [the link might be split
when I post] :
http://futeboldemulher.weblogger.terra.com.br/200208_futeboldemulher_arquivo.htm
[midway down the page]

ahh...thanks to the weblog...I searched google with
"honey honey" adventures
and found :

http://www.enokifilmsusa.com/library/honey.htm
Check it out!
They might have the full episode set!

Good luck...[as a "commenter"...this is where my service ends]

As for the animated series, it started in 1981 [in Japan]

Called Enoki Films...they only sell the distribution rights.
To the best of their knowledge they do not know anyone who
is selling Honey Honey on VHS or DVD in English.

I think the only recourse you have is to find out if tarheel's
contact (which I think is based on a 1988 e-mail out there) still
has the taped episode...on the other hand, the length of THAT video is
44 minutes...and might be the lone movie-length feature available...
there are Japanese references to a movie version. Note that all the
episode lengths of the TV series are app.30 minutes long.

(tarheel should confirm the language it the tape is in)

As a follow up to gomichan's assumption, the source I have for the
episode is not from a 14 year old email.

No intent on stepping on toes, tarheel
Good luck on the search for the video.
