I feel qualified to address this topic, having read a great deal about
Napoleon, but I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for. Did
you want an informal exposition with lots of web links, or an essay in
the academic style? If the latter, exactly what length do you expect?
Would 1000 words do?

an essay in the academic style is definately the best way to do it. 
Well, around 1000 words is the length I am looking for, too.
