I've seen commercials for little electric tweezers that remove hair permanently. It sounds too good to be true. Do they really work? Maybe if someone's actually tried them and can share their experience, or maybe you could point me to a review of these products. |

Techgoddess, According to Hair Facts, commercial-free hair removal facts for consumers, hair removal with electric tweezers is not permanent and should be avoided. There is no published clinical proof of claims that they can achieve permanent hair removal or that electricity can travel through a hair and cause permanent damage to the root. Source: Hair Facts Website http://www.hairfacts.com/methods/etweezer.html Published Papers: Verdich (1984): 8 women received one treatment from a Depilatron electric tweezer. At 5-7 months, there was no significant change in amount of hair. Cited by FDA in reclassification of electric tweezers as evidence the devices have not demonstrated permanence. http://www.hairfacts.com/medpubs/etweez/verdich.html Feughelman (1982): This clinical overview of hair properties shows that hair is a poor conductor of electricity and indicates that electricity does not travel through a hair shaft as claimed by some electric tweezers. Includes Dr. Feughelman's comments on van Orden (1998) http://www.hairfacts.com/medpubs/hairgen/feughelman.html Electric Tweezer Medical Data http://www.hairfacts.com/medpubs/etwezmed.html As for testimonials, I tried this type of hair removal a while ago and it didnt work for me. Electric Tweezers do not work! They simply give you the same effect as tweezing, but cost a lot more and take a lot more time. http://www.neitherday.com/transgurl/hair.html There are claims and counter claims as to the permanence of these methods. To date it seems there is no significant scientific data to indicate long-term 'permanence'. http://bodyfaq.com/hair-removal.htm#tweezers Search Criteria: electric tweezers I hope you find this helpful.
