Popup, pop-under, banner, and other internet advertising has been
relatively ineffective, and is only getting more so. With the failure
of schemes to get your name out so people will seek you out if they
need your services, you need some way to have your company show up
when someone is seeking the services you provide. When people need
information online, they start with their favorite search engine, so
your best bet would be to work to establish a high search-engine
ranking. Pick two or three search engines or portals (such as Google,
Yahoo, AOL) and work on getting your name to show up for the types of
queries you want.
More directly, you can pay to have your name come up. Google offers a
number of highly-regarded ad options which allow you to set the
keywords you would like your ad to be displayed in response to. For
example, you could select "injection molded plastic" as three target
words; whenever these words occur in a Google Search, your ad would be

Analagous services are probably available at other sites. You might
also try other forms of advertising, but you want something that lets
you be *very* targeted - there's no point displaying information on
custom injection molding to someone looking for disposable diapers.
Between targeted advertising and high search engine placement, you
should be doing fairly well. Those are the two big cost-effective
ways to attract more business. There are certainly other things you
can do, but they may suit your business less well.
