Hi there tarbat!

Could you specify exactly which version of Multimate these files were made with?

Thanks,

Hello again tarbat.

I've since managed to find software and services which should address
all versions of Multimate. Let me detail these:

#1

WinConv, by Logiciels & Services Duhem
http://www.macdisk.com/conven.php3
Cost: $76

You can obtain a trial version of this software, which will only work
for 25 files, and only convert the first ten thousand characters. It
converts from Multimate 4 and Multimate Advantage. Although it cannot
write modern Word files, it can create Word 3, 4, and 5 files, as well
as Wordperfect files - formats which your version of Word should read
just fine.

#2

Conversions Plus, by Dataviz
http://www.dataviz.com/products/conversionsplus/cpw_translist.html
Cost: $69.95

This program can convert from Multimate Advantage, Multimate 3, and
Multimate 4. It can write directly to Microsoft Word files (most
versions). Unfortunately, you cannot download a trial version. ZDNet
have written a review of this product, available here:

#3

WordPort, by Advanced Computer Innovations
http://www.convertnow.com/wpt.htm
Cost: $149

This program can read from Multimate 3.2 through 4, and write directly
to Microsoft Word files (most versions). You can download a trial
version, but be warned! It introduces spelling and numerical errors on
purpose, in order to persuade you to buy the full version.

This same company will also perform this service for you, if you
upload your files. The cost is $10 / megabyte, plus $1 / file. The
order minimum is $9. See here:

#4

Filtrix, by Blueberry Software
http://www.blueberry.com/formats.htm
Cost: $189

Filtrix converts all versions of Multimate to most Word versions. A
demonstration version is available, but yet again it distorts the
spelling, and inserts random text, in order to encourage the purchase
of a full version.

I hope one of these is what you're looking for. If anything's unclear,
requires further explanation, or any of the links do not work, then
please request clarification before rating this answer.

Good luck with your conversion!
