Dear ChrissyJ,
There are various ways to accessorize a plaid skirt, and they all
depend on the kind of look you’re going for.
A more classic approach would pair the skirt with a crisp white
blouse, tights and oxfords or loafers
You can add a sweater for this look:

Add a blazer for an even more classic look
http://www.polo.com/cgi-bin/polo/polo/catalog/product_detail.jsp?prod_id=6506
(Shoes: Loafers, Knee length boots)

My favorite look is a long sweater, skirt and boots:

The long sweater or blouse with a belt is a new trend (also with
boots):

For a frillier look pair your skirt with a lacy white blouse, and wear
with pumps
For a funkier look try a belly-baring t-shirt, tights in a contrasting
color and Doc Martins.
Some further advice I found:
“DON'T wear your plaid skirt with your red, green, or maroon polo's.
DO wear your plaid skirt with your blue and white polo's.”

I hope this is helpful. If you require more assistance please request
a clarification and allow me to respond before rating this answer.
Have fun,
gitana
