smokeymischief,
If I understand you correctly, what you're saying is that you don't
want your number to show up on the Caller ID of the person you are
calling, and that you don't want to have to take any extra steps to
prevent it from showing on their Caller ID.
This service (Caller ID blocking) should be available to you from your
local telephone service provider. Once they have activated this
service, you can set it to "On" (automatically block Caller ID) or
"Off" (don't automatically block Caller ID.) If you set it to "On", it
will always block Caller ID.
However, you should be aware that phone numbers which have "Anonymous
Call Blocking" service will require you to hang up, dial *85 to
un-block your number, and then enter the phone number again. *85 works
on a per-call basis, so the next call you make will automatically
revert to not showing your number on Caller ID again.
The Caller ID blocking service will not enable you to have a fake name
and/or number show up on the Caller ID box of the person you are
calling. However, it is completely legal.
As mvguy stated, "spoofing" your phone number is of questionable
legality.
