The term "enumeration district" is no longer used by the U.S. Census
Bureau. For the 1990 census, the term was changed to "address
register area", and for 2000, it was changed again to "assignment
area".

"Decennial Management Division Glossary" (October 2002) [which
includes these three terms]
U.S. Census Bureau

Your use of the term "enumeration district" makes me assume that
you're interested in this information for historical or genealogical
research. If so, for which year's census are you interested in this
information? Or do you want information for the assignment area of
the 2000 census?

Yes, it is for genealogical research..Sorry I didn't say what year.
It would be 1900. Thank you.

Would you be satisifed with an answer that explains how you can find
enumeration districts for Detroit in 1900?

Are you willing to purchase the records containing this information?
If so, how much are you willing to spend?

In what area are you located? A Researcher might be able to find a
library or other place in your area that has this information.

I wouldn't be interested in purchasing an answer for how to find
enumeration districts for Detroit in 1900. I'm afraid you would just
say, check with the U.S.Bureau of Census...I've already been there
online and couldn't figure it out. I live on Catalina Island, which
has just the barest of an example of a library. Thank you anyway, I'll
just have to muddle through.

Hi-
You can use the Ancestry.com site to figure out the ennumeration
district, if you have a Detroit map. However, you must pay a fee to
access the actual data for the 1900 census.

To get to the page with the list of enumeration districts go to
http://msn.ancestry.com/search/io/choosest.asp?c=4
Then choose Michigan, then Wayne County
Then Detroit Township
That will take you to a list of enumeration districts defined by the
boundary streets. You should be able to figure out which one you need
from there.

Search strategy: detroit 1900 US census
