Hello kseiler-ga,

At Montblancrefills.com, which describes itself as “The Official Site
of Montblanc North America”
(http://www.montblancrefills.com/service/index.asp), they state the
following:

“Shopping at authorized retail locations is the only guarantee that
you will receive genuine product with the original warranty.

Montblanc does not authorize purchase transactions of Montblanc
product (except inks or refills) through the Internet. Unauthorized
sources sell product which may be counterfeit, stolen, or tampered
with. Additionally, unauthorized sources cannot validate the original
Montblanc manufacturer's warranty.

Always look for the Montblanc authorized retailer logo block proudly
on display and the serial number on the writing instrument clip.”

It goes on to say, “The number 4810 engraved on the nib of Montblanc
fountain pens represents the height of the Mont Blanc Mountain in
meters.”

At the Mont Blanc Pen collectors Net website
(http://www.montblanc-pens.net/reviews.htm), I found the following
information:

“…to ensure authenticity of your product, check under the clip on the
cap- there should be an engraving reading "Pix".”

Another reference to “Pix” can be found at Newsnet5.com (WEWS Channel
5 News), in an article titled “Store Accused Of Selling Fake Luxury
Pens, Customers Should Go To Authorized Dealers”
they state the following:

“The clip on the pen given to Cox did not have the markings of a Mont
Blanc. It didn't have lettering around the band or the letters PIX on
the inside of the clip.”

Based on this information, I conclude that an authentic Montblanc pen
should include a serial number on the clip and the number 4810 on the
nib as described at the Montblanc website.

Also, according to other sources, the letters “PIX” should also appear
on the clip.

I hope you have found this information helpful. Please request
clarification if you feel that I have not fully answered your
question.

Good luck!
