I am interested in a thorough history of development of "remote
keyless entry" systems (i.e. the hand-held key chains that can
remotely lock/unlock automobiles, start the car’s engine, etc.)...

Please provide a detailed history of this invention, from the
conceptual stage engineering stage, marketing stage, and current
technological developments.

* Who / How / When / Where...was the idea of a Keyless Entry System
devised?  When was the idea applied for cars?  When was the idea
applied for other goods?

* Who / How / When / Where...was this idea taken from a simple concept
to the engineering and design stage?

* Who / How / When / Where...was this idea taken from an engineered
prototype to a marketable product?

* Who was the first supplier of any keyless entry solutions, and to
whom were these units supplied (and when / where / etc...)?  Same
question, but specifically for Keyless Entry for automobiles (rather
than Remote Keyless Entry systems in general)

* What firms and consulting services were involved in the branding /
marketing / market research / etc. of the original Remote Keyless
Entry systems?

* What firms and consulting services were involved in the branding /
marketing / market research / etc. of the original Remote Keyless
Entry systems for automobiles?

* What was the overall budget spent on the development of Remote
Keyless Entry units?

* What was the overall budget spent on the development of Remote
Keyless Entry units for automobiles?

* What companies / organization own patents for Remote Keyless Entry
solutions, and what are the patent numbers?

* What companies are currently involved in the development of new
Remote Keyless Entry systems?
