I received a reply from Pastor Haggard's office. He was born in
Indiana, but did not want to provide more information than this. If
this is sufficient information, let me know and I will post it as the
answer. Thanks!

Thank you for your efforts. Pastor Haggard has in-fact been my pastor
for over 12 years. He is well know. I posted my question to google
inorder to lear and observe how well the google search engin and the
web could answer a straight forward question.

I had read the Newsweek article about google and the article "made" it
appear that by using google one could obtain such information without
much difficulty.
The article stated one could easily and quickly a) find out what
happen to an old flame, b) get the low-down on a proposed business
partner, etc.

Point of fact I attempted to find information of which I already knew
the answers. Such as any information about my father or myself. I
found sites offering to sell subscriptions. Other hits would provide
more details only after I provided more and more data myself.

So, I moved to the pay for answers side of google. Thinking the
perhaps the author of the article had paid for the "quick & easy"
answers to his questions.

Had you have answer my first question I would have had another. Such
as who were the pastors parents, did he receive a collge degree and
were, what's is wife's name, etc. The actual answers I already know.

Back to my purpose for asking...to learn how to use google & the web
effectively. Since I was a child I have loved to pick a book off the
shelf in a library read an item of interest and then follow the thread
from book to map to newspaper to book to were ever. Just learning for
the fun of it.

I want to use the web well. To learn. To have fun.

So, how would one find out the birthplace of some one whom you could
not ask.

Dear Whit14,

there are many Google search "tips" that might help you in obtaining
more information through Google and screening undesirable information.
