About 40 years ago there was a great product that I bought in the drug
store that was some type of banaba flakes, in a can and called either
Cannana Banana or Banana Cannana. You added either milk or formula to
a portion of it, and babies loved it and pediatricans suggested it as
a nutricious beginning food for baby. Does anyone remember it and is
it available?

Hi gram90-ga,

I found it and I really enjoyed this research!

They're called Kanana Banana Flakes. And this wonderful website tells
you all about the product, faqs on why the website was started, how to
order, nutritional information, etc.
http://www.galaxymall.com/babies/kananabanana/

Quoting from the site:

"As your baby begins to develop, the right baby food is critical to
long-term health and well-being. The baby food you choose during the
formative years will provide your baby with the building blocks
necessary for strong bones and muscles. Life-long eating habits begin
with that first spoonfull of baby food. The challenge is finding a
baby food that tastes great, is easy to digest and provides good
nutrition.

Convenient single-serving packets can be mixed with formula or breast
milk for a soothing, easy on the tummy, first meal. As you introduce
new foods, Kanana Banana Flakes can be added to baby food to improve
the taste. Bananas taste so good that you won't have a problem getting
your baby to eat.

Kanana Banana Flakes are pure, wholesome, 100% bananas. They are an
excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium and dietary fiber
without any fat, cholesterol or sodium.
Research suggests that of all the different types of baby food
available, bananas are best, and Kanana Banana Flakes are made from
the best bananas."

-------

"This website was created because I wanted to give my grandchildren
the same first solid food that I gave to my children. My mother used
it when I was a baby and she told me about it when I had my first
child.

As my children grew, I continued to use Kanana Banana Flakes as a
nutritional supplement because I worried that my children weren't
eating right. I used them in everything that I could think of. I
created banana omlettes for breakfast and poured some into meatloaf at
dinner. I even seasoned vegetables to make them taste better.

After the birth of my first grandchild, I discovered that finding
Kanana Banana Flakes was no longer a simple matter. It took a lot of
time and effort, but I finally found them. Kanana Banana Flakes are
now being used by the medical industry exclusively."

Order Information:
Kanana Banana Flakes are shipped via USPS, and your order will arrive
in approximately four weeks.

Kanana Banana Flakes are pure, 100% banana with no additives or
preservatives. Each packet contains 6.4 grams which is the equivalent
of 1/4 of a banana. Each packet is hermetically sealed to ensure
freshness.

Kanana Banana Flakes - 12 packets $9.95

I tried to go to Kanana Banana and was not able to find the link.
However, my search lead me to Nutritional Designs who sells nana
flakes. These dried bananas are great. Go to www.ndlabs.com and
click on dried fruit. The dried bananas come in 1 lb jars or 2 lb re
sealable bags. My kids like a spoon of the dried bananas in their
oatmeal.

candy_cane,

Yes, you are correct, the link for Kanana Banana is not working ***now***.

However, when I performed the research and answered the question for
the customer gram90-ga, the link was working and the product was
available.

I answered the question on December 15 2002. Today is June 30, 2004.

Yes, you are right. I have used Nana Flakes from ND Labs and they are
great. I have added 1-2 TBSP to oatmeal, cream of rice and other hot
cereals when my kids were young. I have even used them to replace
some of the fat in cooked recipes. That works out well if you like
banana flavor. Sometimes we use it to make a banana icing for baked
treats.

Nana Flakes come in 1 lb jars, 2 lb bags and 4 lb pails. visist
www.ndlabs.com to order. You will not be disappionted.
