We are an American Company that have been in Russia for the last 24 months researching numerious opportunities relating to the Semiconductor industry and wish to find a funding source capable of raising between $10MM to $50MM. Jim - US VCs typically do not fund Russian ventures. Generally, VCs fund ventures that are relatively close geographically to where the VC's partners are physically present. If they were to fund a Russian venture it would most likely fit into their portfolio in some other way - e.g. software company or biotech or whatever, but it would have US offices. Also, a hit list of 20 companies is not going to do you much good unless you have connections into those VCs. VCs generally do not look at a business plan or opportunity unless it had been referred by someone they know. Hope this info helps some. Thanks, ragingacademic |

The above comment that American VCs do not invest in Russian ventures is not correct. Any investment strategist would look for geography as a source of diversification, as long as the business plans meet or exceed the criteria that VCs are looking for.
