Also need to know if you are interested in a particular stretch of the
river.  The source, which lies west of Alamosa, Colorado in the
Rockies is undoubtedly the narrowest point, and there's a good
possibility that the river's mouth in the Gulf of Mexico is the widest
spot.  There's lots of variation through Big Bend Park and all along
the river's course, though.
