Hi,

Im looking for a substantial list of subscription websites.

The subscription websites are preferably micros, smes, charities and
associations.

Im looking for contact name, email and website address of the
subscription sites, and possibly a phone number.

The type of susbscription website could possibly be a writer,
researcher, subject matter expert, enthusiastic hobbyist, or an
authority on almost any topic, who has started his own subscription
website or online newsletter.

The type of people on the list should be ones who started a
subscription website from scratch, made the right moves, and now
generate a good income... even in the aftermath of the “dot-bomb” era.
Where possible please avoid mammoth companies with giant marketing
budgets.

The reason for getting this list is to contact them and where possible
be privy to their struggles, their successes, their most costly
mistakes, and their most profitable campaigns. Each interview will be
an in-depth understanding of the secrets behind their triumphs... and
a crystal-clear picture of how readers of the case studies can apply
these secrets to build their own fortune.

To clarify, would these successful sites be ones where
the subscription is paid for by the subscriber, or can
free newsletter sites, who generate income via advertising
and sponsors, also be included?

What do you mean by "micros" and "smes"?

Clarification of Question by subscriptionsoftware-ga on 18 Dec 2002 05:54 PST
I would prefer sites that charge subscriptions, as i sell subscription
software - communitymanagementsoftware.com

I would define micros as 'mom and pop' home based, 1 man band type.
and smes as small companies.

Searches for the websites you describe return between
5,000 and 500,000 hits, many of which are unusable,
since including terms that would indicate a cost for
the newsletter, such as 'cost' or 'price' often return
negative hits due to sentences like "our newsletter is
at no cost to you". Sifting through these to obtain a
'substantial list' doesn't guarantee that the sites
thus gleaned are of the successful nature you require.

What I did find, which I think would be useful to you
instead, is a website which has done all the work for
you. It is a subscription site, itself, though it
offers a free newsletter, and it is geared specifically
for persons such as yourself who want to start a
subscription site. It offers a wealth of archived
information and resources, including:

Discussion Forum
Getting Started
Design Tips
Marketing Strategies
Tip Archives
Writing Techniques
File Downloads
Search

Help

It includes case studies and interviews with successful
site owners, as well as new ideas and expert advice,
step-by-step guides, business plans, reports and checklists,
site-management software and services reviews and more,
for $90 a year.

If you think this might be a workable solution for your
needs, let me know, and I'll post a complete answer.

Answer for Question ID: 126052 -- Subscription Websites

QUESTION

The customer needs a substantial list of subscription websites. The
subscription websites are preferably micros, smes, charities and
associations. I am looking for contact name, email and website address
of the subscription sites, and possibly a phone number.

ANSWER

It seems that the market for subscription websites is growing [1].
Four lists are provided below, for micro (home based), smes (small
business), charities, and associations. Contact information is
included here when possible, or the pertinent URLs are identified.

Micros (home based)
===================================

There are thousands of these. The Nabaza Family Resource Site [2] is
a good entry point. It provides a multi-layered directory of micro
subscription websites. Clicking the website name brings up a
subdirectory of individual home based websites for each category, with
the contact information. The following is a listing of the
categories:
