I am looking for an email tracking application which will archive
incoming AND outgoing email on the mailserver. We are a law firm and
want to keep track of all inbound and outbound mail. We also want to
monitor the response time for the incoming emails. Any email tracking
software the google experts know about?

What mail server software are you using? Exchange server? What
version?

Many tracking software packages are written to "plugin" to existing
mail server applications.

Sorry for being unclear on that point. I am open to any mailserver
software.
Could be Sendmail, Exchange, Imail Server, EudoraMail Server etc. We
are looking for a scalable, multidomain capable solution. I am looking
for a list of various options.

Hi,

Sendmail is fully configurable and I have set up archive systems for
companies before with this package. Lucky that it is also the least
expensive (free on a linux box). The draw back is that being fully
configurable opens up to several hundred functions that make it a bit
difficult to set up. I would suggest hiring someone to set it up for
you on a one time basis and get it all configured.

You are going to want a CD burner or a tape drive rather quickly
depending on the amount of email you send and receive a month. The
"server" itself can be rather cheap running linux.

Here are a few links to software packages that do this with other mail
servers.
