I went on the 6th Gulf Air Tour for light planes 125 HP, or less)
in January 1947. I need an article which I believe was in an aviaation
magazine detailing the tour - Gulf Oil furnished gas and oil free
at designted airports. My tour was Baltimore to Miami.

Luke623 --

It's unlikely the article that you see is available on-line. However,
researchers may well be able to find you the publication and date so
that you can get a copy via your public library (they can often get
copies of obscure publications on inter-library loan). Is that
acceptable?

Best regards,

The Gulf Tour was an advertising promotion, and it was conducted over
several years. There were four or five routes from various directions
across
the country to Miami. There were small airports along the route where
gas
and oil was provided free when you presented your credentials. When we
arrived at Masters Field (Navy) in Miami, there were 3500 light planes
on the field, according to the local newspaper. I seem to remember an
article in
an aviation magazine, perhaps "Aviation Week". All I need is the
magazine
issue, and I would purchase a back copy if available. I have contacted
"Flying" magazine, with no luck. Thanks!
