I want to know how a variety of factors affect the design of "swing moorings" or "single point moorings" This is a scientific or engineering question. The factors I consider relevant are: The displacement in tonnes or tons of the moored boat. The maximum expected wave height at the mooring site. The maximum expected wind velocity at the mooring site. The depth of water at the mooring site. The submerged weight of the mooring anchor. The length and weight per unit length of the mooring chain. I got some answers from accessing web-sites of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and also the US Army Corp of Engineers. Other sources could be such as the US Navy, or Yacht Research organisations. I am not interested in the political, environmental, or licensing aspects of swing moorings. | |
