Question ID: 126396
does the panasonic rp91 play dvd+rw?

Clarification of Question by stuart333-ga on 18 Dec 2002 02:52 PST
the panasonic rp91 is a progressive scan standalone DVD player:

 http://www.prodcat.panasonic.com/shop/NewDesign/ModelTemplate.asp?ModelId=15826&show_all=false&product_exists=True&active=1&ModelNo=DVD-RP91K&CategoryId=%202977

I'm considering purchasing the Sony DRU110A/C1 DVD+RW recorder. Will
the DVD+RW discs made with the Sony recorder play in the Panasonic
player?

Hi Stuart,

The answer appears to be, "yes" according to user comments at
http://www.vcdhelp.com

See http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=15&Search=Search&list=0

on the Sony DRU110A/C1 and see

http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=Panasonic+r91&DVDselect=&Search=Search

on the Panasonic. Note that user comments indicate that some people
have had problems playing SVCD and XVCD discs on the Panasonic.

While a specific test of a Ricoh (no relation :-)) writer, the site

http://www.ricohpmmc.com/dvd/asia/cope/video.html

also notes that the Panasonic successfully played a DVD+RW.

Search strategy: Sony DRU110A/C1 +panasonic rp91 at
http://www.alltheweb.com

regards,

rico
