Hello qsman It belonged to Fred Perry. "The tennis racquet Perry used to win Wimbledon in 1934 sold to a private collector for 20,000 pounds." 20 June, 1997, London, England: Tennis Great's Memorabilia Sold at Auction http://www.crosscourt.com.au/cgi-bin/cchstory.pl?TD=0869783950 I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask for clarification if you need further explanation. Regards - Leli I tried various searches, including the London Times, without success, but in the end found it with these search terms on AlltheWeb: racquet tennis auction london 1997 |
