I am interested in getting LASIK surgery to improve my vision, and I
would like to know which lasers have the best success record (end
result of 20/40 vision or better with no halo effect or sensitivity to
brightness) for people with vision similar to my own. In both eyes I
have myopia of -3.5 diopters. In one eye I have an astigmatism of
-1.25 diopters on a 40 axis, and in the other eye I have an
astigmatism of -0.75 diopters on a 140 axis. Please note that this
type of astigmatism is rare and may have an effect on how well LASIK
will work for me. In my astigmatism, instead of the axis in both eyes
being horizontal or vertical, they are both on opposite diagonals. I
am especially interested in learning about LASIK effectiveness with
astigmatism in general, and specifically my type of astigmatism.
I found that this FDA site has a "Summary of Safety and Effectiveness"
for different lasers, but I did not fully understand the information,
and I'm hoping a Google researcher can decifer it for me!

Of course, any relevant information, whether it comes from the FDA or
not, would be welcomed. |
