I am looking for a painting/illustration of a crow walking in a field.
The crow has a straw in his mouth, is wearing boots, and may be
wearing a hat.

Can you help me a little more? Is it a cartoon, or a sketch, in oils,
a book illistration or framed picture? Modern? Where did you see it?
Thanks.

The image of the crow was very much a charicature. The crow is
walking in a winter field...flattened stalks of wheat(?). There is a
background with a tree or trees. Whether the painting was oil,
acrylic, or tempera I could not say, but it was definitly brushwork.
As I mentioned, the crow is distinguished for wearing boots and having
a straw in his mouth. Hope this helps.

I've found your crow!

It's titled "Kraehe" by Rudi Hurzlmeier You can see a good sized view
of it here:
http://www.fmnh.org/research_collections/zoology/zoo_sites/bugcamp_web/inscrow.htm

And it is for sale as a poster here for $22.45 US:
http://www.postershop.com/Hurzlmeier-Rudi-p.html

Hurzlmeier is a German artist/cartoonist who apparently is not as well
known here in the US as he is in Europe. I couldn't really find any
Biographical information on him in English, but there was page after
page about him in his native German, which I unfortunately don't
speak. If you speak German, you might want to follw my search below
for "Rudi Hurzlmeier."

Hope this is what you were looking for. I think it's a great picture!

Having no luck with the previous searches, I just decided to search
Google Images for the word "crow".
http://images.google.com/images?q=crow&btnG=Google+Search&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8
I got 26,300 hits. I then gave myself a time limit of half an hour to
look through the pictures, and violoa! On the 46th page of images,
there was a crow in a coat walking through a field with a stalk of
something in his mouth. I knew that it had to be the one you were
looking for.

I then searched for Rudi Hurzlmeier, but as I said, there is a lot of
information on him in German, but not in English. You can even search
Google for strictly English sites, and that didn't really turn up much
of anything, either:

Rudi Hurzlmeier in all languages:

Unfortunately the artist died in 2001.
