Hello cf2002

I guess you meant to type Chorus, since they're big in Ireland. If so,
you've found a difficult question for us. Their website doesn't tell
anyone anything about their senior management and I've had to hunt all
over the place.

Chorus is owned by two other companies and everything about its
business seems somewhat complicated. It would be possible to tell you
about the CEO of one of these companies, a man who is seen as a major
player in the Irish media. I also managed to find the name of Chorus'
Chief Executive.

If this would be a useful answer for you, do let us know.

Thanks - Leli

I have already found out that Liberty media and Irish Newspapers have
a 50-50 share yes the CEO name would be helpfull if that is all you
can find. Agree the website is not helpfull more of a portal?

Hello cf2002

Thanks for getting back to us. Please accept my apologies for not
responding to you sooner.

As you have found, information on Chorus executives is not easy to
come by.

From summer 2001 the Chief Executive of Chorus has been David Palmer.

"IRELAND: CHORUS COMMUNICATIONS UNDER PRESSURE

David Palmer was appointed as the new chief executive of Chorus
Communications, after Bart Bonsall resigned due to increasing rumours
about his future at the Irish operator. Currently, the company is
going through a period of mounting pressure, having to deal with
questions about its ownership which is equally split between Liberty
Media and United News & Media as well as the reduction of its
workforce as it seeks to manage its resources more efficiently.
Chorus is also being criticised by the director of telecom regulation
Etain Doyle, for not meeting the deadline (March 31) to provide
digital TV in some parts of Dublin. In addition, many of its 260,000
subscribers are complaining over bad signal quality and problems with
the telephone service provided by the operator."

Frustratingly, I haven't been able to establish if this is a different
David Palmer from the one who resigned from being Chairman of
Independent News and Media (Ireland) in March 2002. Certainly, the
links between Chorus and INM are very close. Not only is Chorus half
owned by them but discussion of Chorus often brings up the name of
Tony O'Reilly, Chief Executive of INM.

Independent News and Media's annual report for 2001 gives names of
members of its executive committee on page 11, including Gavin
O'Reilly, one of Tony's sons, who is Chief Operating Officer for the
group.
