dee snider is in the washington post today and he reminded me of the
discover (or some other credit card) commercial about a hair band that
had seen better days.

what was the name of the band?  it was kitty something or something
kitty, wannit?

The name of the band is “Danger Kitty”.

Here is a brief excerpt from a Discover Card press release dated March
15, 2001.

“Who can forget the 80s? The decade when acid washed jeans and big
hair bands were cool. Well, if you've turned on your television
lately, you've probably seen the new Discover® Card commercial, which
features members of Danger Kitty, an 80s hair band, sporting tight
metallic pants and wearing out the strings on their guitars at the
fictitious Smukler bar mitzvah.

Danger Kitty, originally from Los Angeles, is an underground hair band
that frequently performs at the Viper Room, a well-known music venue
in Los Angeles.”
