Hi koffie, And the answer is...42 at least according to Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. You can go to whatis?com to find out how he derived such an answer to such a difficult question: http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci211501,00.html As for the meaning of life, here's my answer: https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=2573 Based on my search queries, scientists seem to have a lot to say about the origin and meaning of the universe and, well, everything. Here are some sites that explore your question from a (mostly) scientific point of view: NASA searches for meaning of universe http://detnews.com/2002/editorial/0203/26/a07-449388.htm The Origin and Its Meaning by Roger Ellman http://www.the-origin.org/Ttl-prol.pdf Closer to Truth: Universe & Meaning http://www.closertotruth.com/topics/universemeaning/index.html The meaning of life, the universe and everything? http://www.thekeyboard.org.uk/The%20meaning%20of%20life%20etc.%20%20 If none of those explanations works for you, you can always take a class: University of New South Wales: God, Life, the Universe and Everything: Science and Meaning http://www.arts.unsw.edu.au/sts/sts_core_links/coursessubjects/subjects_gen/courses/hpst2126.htm or attend a seminar to find the answer. Hi Katwoman! Well, of course i am aware of the "official" answer '42' by Adams. I must admit that i was just playing around a bit on this new service. Great answer though! interesting links. 5 stars are yours! |

Years ago I wrote two sentences: - Love is the only way to the God. - And God is the only goal which exists. I hope I could have "copyright" to these sentences. Anyway, this is what religions of the world tell us, just with much more words as I put here. Think about Karma: - do only the good things - don't hurt other people - this world is "training center" for the life after the death and only "good souls" go to the next steps. - if something bad happens to you, maybe you were just punished because of what you did in your previous life. - we don't remember previous life - so we can't "cheat" when we get the same problem to solve it. Maybe this universe is only one level of many universes. Afterall... where is the heaven? Not in this universe, I think. But as it seems, we can reach it somehow anyway (NDE - near death experiences, etc.). I think that a message from the God is also something as: "Don't research who am I". Why? Because we just can't figure it out from this level (this universe). The meaning of life? Make good things, try to enjoy and always be grateful, also for bad things. I hope this helps for now. I wish you all the best! |

Life is to reproduce. The Universe is a life form like the earth, you or I. Everything is, well,... what it is. Nice and simple. |

Also, and on a rather more scientific level, Douglas Adams' 42 is also the atomic mass number of Molybdenum, a chemical element which is apparently important for creating life. firefly the fool |
