My wife and I are looking for affordable group health insurance plans in Central New Jersey, but don't know which "group" to join. What groups, associations, clubs, etc. in NJ can we join that have group health insurance plans? Groups should be fairly easy to join, and association fees should be low enough to make it worthwhile. I'm hoping to pay $500/month or less for both of us, for group insurance and any association fees. We want medical only, no dental, no vision. More info: Central New Jersey is roughly the Princeton/Trenton/New Brunswick area. We're in our 30's, in good health, and are currently in an individual HMO policy paying $585/month for both + $30 co-pays, for medical only. I'm self-employed in Information Technology, and she's not employed. I've looked into getting a group plan for my company, but all insurance companies seem to require 2 employees, and there's just me, with not enough work to take on others (not even my wife) as employees. PEOs charge high monthly rates to join in order to get into their group health plans. Our alma maters don't offer group health insurance. |

Hi there! Our search returned the following results: Here is an extensive list of associations offering group health insurance. Although they are mainly named for "craftspeople" of various types you are probably still eligible to take advantage of their benefits: http://www.craftsreport.com/resources/insurance.html Here is a link-page of group insurance policies: http://www.insurecentral.com/bus_heal.html The Graphic Artists Guild offers several group health insurance plans to member..you can join as an associate member if less than half your income comes from graphic arts and still enjoy the benefits of the guild: http://www.gag.org/benefits/health.html Here is an informative FAQ on the ins and outs of group health insurance that you will probably find interesting: http://www.insure.com/business/grouphealth/faq/index.html An alternative to group health insurance is the MSA; read more about it and how it could be beneficial to you here: http://webmd.lycos.com/question_and_answer/article/1691.50242 While there may not be a multitude of openly-advertised group health insurance options for someone in your position online, many organizations that do offer such a benefit have no web presence. A simple look through a local list of associations could be of great help. Good luck in your insurance hunt! answerguru-ga |

I know I asked a difficult question, because I've been trying to answer it myself for a while. I've seen more thorough answers and links (to other questions), but it's good enough. I'll have to follow up on the links and advice provided, which look promising. Thanks! |

It's worth a few moments to check out www.ehealthinsurance.com I have searched around on the site and found some fantastic rates, both for personal and small business group insurance. |

Have you checked out your local Chamber of Commerce? Quite often they have info on several group plans that entrepeneurs can join. |
