Hi there

From the Carrom Company, the makers of Nok Hockey - rules for Nok
Hockey
http://www.carrom.com/instructions/game.asp - PDF or zip format.
About two thirds down the page.

The rules below are also from the Carrom Company but are on a page
found only in the search engine cache pages.
http://216.239.53.100/search?q=cache:rfNf0etOFn4C:www.darwinsgamecloset.com/nokhockey.html+nok+hockey+rules&hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-8&client=googlet

I am quoting them just in case you do not have zip or PDF capability.

"AGES: None Listed

"HOW MANY PLAYERS: Two Players

"EQUIPMENT:
Playing Board including 2 Hardwood Goal Blocks
     2 Wooden Pucks
     2 Plastic Hockey Sticks

"OBJECT OF THE GAME: To score by knocking the puck into the goal.

"Goals can be scored by Direct Shots into the pocket or by Bank Shots
off the side Boards, or by Double Bank Shots off the corner blocks and
Goal Block.

"HOW TO PLAY:

"The puck is put into play by one of the players dropping the puck in
the face-off center circle. A player can hit the puck only when the
puck is in his defense zone area or the center free play area. A
player can not hit the puck when it lies in the opponent’s defense
area.

"A puck knocked out of the arena is put into play from the defense
area of the opponent responsible for the out of bounds shot.

"A player’s play position is directly behind the goal net. Play from
along the side of the arena is not permitted.

"SCORE: One point for each goal on any type of shot. Set your own
total to determine the winner."

If you want to see what a Nok Hockey board looks like or want to get
one:

from "The Sports Authority."

It looks like fun to me.

I was wondering if the players alternate shots or try to hit puck
simultaneously when not in just their defense zone.

Well, the game is called "hockey." So any interpretation of the rules
(which admittedly are few) must take that into account. Taking turns
striking the puck when the puck is in a free play zone is certainly
not a part of hocky. When the puck is in a free play area, it is open
season. I've never played Nok Hockey but hold my own at air hockey
(mashed fingers and all). In every form of these games I can think
of, the free play zone means exactly what it says. - - now that ends
my official response to the clarification request - - my unofficial
response would deal with how old your players are. If they are small
children, you may want to "revise" the rules somewhat to avoid injured
fingers, teach the meaning of taking turns, or even teaching
competitivness. Hockey in any of its many forms is an excellent
educational tool depending on what you want to get from it. Maybe you
even have a future NHL star among your players?
