In the movie "Charlie's Angels" (was showing ~2 years ago), this
mathematician lives in a futuristic house that is made of several
saucer-shaped modules with panoramic windows. Does this building
really exist? Or do similar ones exist? Is there maybe an architect
who is know for this type of style?

If anyone finds a screen shot from that building in that film on the
web that would be nice, although that alone won't answer my question.

Thanks for your question. The house you are referring to was designed
by architect John Lautner and is known as Chemosphere. As well as
being the home of the evil Knox in "Charlie's Angels". It has been
featured in several other films. You can see additional pictures of
the house at http://www.johnlautner.org/Malin.html. Built in 1960, it
is still considered by many to be a masterpiece of American
Architecture. It is now owned by Angelika and Benedict Taschen of
Taschen Publishing fame.

Having apprenticed to Frank Lloyd Wright, Lautner was (he died in
1984) one of the masters of American architecture. You can learn more
about Lautner and his work at the John Lautner Foundation,

Thank you for your question and if you need any additional
clarification, pleaes let me know.
