I am looking for published literature which details the mediums and techniques used by the painter, Salvador Dali. I have a copy of Dali's "50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship", but my question is this: Are there any sources which are more specific and less 'eccentric'? Could you refer them to me by author and/or title? |

Dear Deadhead, I have enjoyed researching your question. After searching various on-line art journals and Dali-related sites I have compiled the following list of sources: Dalis Optical Illusions by Dawn Ades This visually gripping book focuses on a central but relatively unexamined aspect of the work of Salvador Dali: his fascination with optical effects and visual perception. The book examines Dali's use of various pictorial techniques, photography and holograms to further his exploration of visual perception and the ways that optical illusion affects our sense of reality. You can order it at this site in the near future. http://daliarchives.com/publications.htm Reynolds Morse, a friend of Dalis published the book. Dali: A Study of His Life and Works. New York Graphic Society, 1957. I cannot find it for sale on-line but it is likely available at your public library Other books you might find interesting: Dali on Modern Art: The Cuckolds of Antiquated Modern Art.
