Hi there

Due to the impossibility of actually building an online gallery for
you, I hope you will find links to a few dozen images to be
satisfatory.

To start with, here are 54 Dutch paintings dealing with people using
or in conjuntion with musical instruments.
http://violadabraccio.com/violin.pictures/categories.php?cat_id=163&sessionid=b9313047743e58bd90ab3fd5f0b4815a
The website is "Database of Violin Iconography."

Here are 7 engravings with similar subject matter.

Same website

You will find five 15th century Italian paintings dealing with musical
themes.

You will also notice that all the above images are from the same
website "Database of Violin Iconography"
Some of the URLs I provided have "session id" listed at the end. This
may mean the links will break when I leave the website. Should that
happen, you can go the the website homepage
http://violadabraccio.com/violin.pictures/ - and click on what you
want. There are paintings, watercolor, engravings and "other,"
representing various countries and periods from the Middle Ages to
contemporary. I have not counted but there should be at least a
couple of hundred images in the listings. Most of the images are
greyscale.

Here is Rembrandt's self portrait from 1660:

This is a portrait of Rembrandt painting his self portrait

The image is from "Hungarian Academy of Sciences" website.

My favorite artist self portrait (if it matters) is
http://www.batguano.com/VLBSP1781A.jpg - which is of Elizabeth Louise
Vigee Le Brun - 1755 - 1842
You can learn more about her here and view wonderful galleries of her
works.

A self portrait of Keith Murdoch. 64 self portraits on one canvas 5
ft by 4 ft 6 in.

The material above provides access to numerous items which fit with
your request. If I may clarify anything before you rate the answer,
please ask.

Cheers
