Dear betna-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

What you are looking for is the ARMED FORCES OF THE WORLD DATABASE:
http://strategypage.com/fyeo/howtomakewar/databases/armies/default.asp

You can click on the column headings to see what they mean, but they
depict the number of soldiers, the budget, number of artillery, number
of fighting vehicles, etc. You can switch from one region of the globe
to another and see each government’s ranking among it’s neighboring
countries.

Then there is this: USNI MILITARY DATABASE
http://www.periscope1.com/usni.html

This site offers the most current information but requires a
subscription and possibly a purchase. It details the strength and
makeup of 480 governmental forces.

I might also add that in these times, the information you seek, though
sometimes available, it not as abundant or as reliable as it probably
would be if world circumstances were different. Many sites have pulled
certain information while others, we can only logically assume, are
either intentionally misleading or obsolete for obvious reasons.
Having said this, not all the information you seek will be found on
the tables I am directing you to, nor, I would imagine, would any
other table be as complete as these – at least at the moment.

Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for using Google Answers.

Best regards;
Tutuzdad-ga

Thanks for valued information. I would appreciate it if I could also
be pointed in the direction of naval strengths [submarines, carriers,
warships] and particularly nuclear weapons. Does the budget include
the navy? Naval aircraft?

Thanks

Betna

I am sorry about the lack of links. The ARMED FORCES OF THE WORLD
DATABASE did say it had a link to the Naval Forces Chart, but as I
warned previously, some sites are pulling certain information for
obvious reasons. I am not suprised at all by the absence of it.

I hope these will help:
