I could definitely look into this for you - but the name of the
deceased woman would help considerably.
Could you share her name with us?
thanks,

Sorry raging academic, but I do not have name of deceased. Believe
that the event occured in or near Palo Alto. ??Drowned in bath??
Homicide suspected never prosecuted, ? lack of evidence?

Ok. I had thought by "lady friend" you had meant yours, but I
understand now she must have been the doctor's lady friend.
I'll do some work on this and see what I can dig up.

Here is a little more data: Apparently the "lady friend" was a nurse,
the event occured north of PA, possibly Burlingame. Teh death was
intrepreted as Suicide (?worked in his or another office and took home
some drugs...?), or homicide, she was pregnant. Some woman in this
matter was previously married to Alfred Marquez MD, so the name
marquez might offer an entry point.

A further dribblet of information: the balance is beginning to favor
Levine MD as the person at interest. His current wife is probably
named Marianne and NOT Marion, and was a RN . She had a biologic
daughter Laurie and was once married to Alfred Marquez MD of The bay
area (SF, South SF, DAly City or the region), after the daughter was
born and Marquez adopted her.

Great, that will help. I spent some time with the librarian today
trying to figure out how to access articles from the Palo Alto Weekly
and the Palo Alto Times from back then. Unfortunately, it's not
trivial and they're not readily accessible but there may be a way.
The Weekly only began publication in 1979 so it may even be too late.
I'll let you know how things proceed.
