Are you looking for the name of the Mufti of Jersualem in April 1918?
If so, I can provide that answer.

I already know who the Mufti of Jerusalem was at the time. My interest
is in identifying the cleric who was in charge of the "Dome on the
Rock" . This was also known as "The Mosque of Omar". The calling card
of this cleric read...
"The Grand Sheik of the Mosque Omar". I am interested in who held the
post in April 1918.

Thanks,
Eli Minoff

There seems to be a strong interest by the Masonic Lodge in the same
person. April 6th, 1918, to be exact. Would this be part of the same
search?
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

Mr Minoff,

Abd (a)Nour Khativ was the sheikh of the Mosque until 1938, but I
could not found in which year he was nominated.

I am also a freemason writing a book about the period. Khativ was
murdered in 1938. Would like to know when he was appointed.
Thank you

I have found a close link....Sheik Sa'id al-Kathib who was the
principle preacher in the nearby al-Aksa Mosque. Do you have a
biography on him for 1918?

A Baedeker Guide to Palestine for 1912 Lists The Dome of the Rock.
[Kubbet es Sakhra] and the Mosque of Sidna Omar as two very seperate
buildings.

The Mosque of Sidna Omar is well known to me and is not the Mosque in
question.
The Dome on the Rock is often referred to as the Mosque of Omar.
All the descriptions and the photo of what t5ranspired on that day in
Apr 1918 leaves no doubt that we are considering the Dome on the Rock.

I suggest that after such a long time that if you still cannot find
the name of the cleric who referred to himself as the "Grand Sheik of
the Mosque Omar" that we drop the matter.
Regards,
Eli Minoff
